• CHARACTERIZATION OF RECEPTOR BINDING AND EARLY CELLULAR EVENTS DURING HEPATITIS E VIRUS INFECTION

Qualifications: 

• A PhD in any branch of modern biology from a reputed institution plus evidence of at least any two of the following.

Duties: 

• The selected candidate will be expected to work together with a PhD student on (1) the design, expression and purification of recombinant viruslike particles, (2) binding, cross-linking, affinity purification and mass spectrometric identification of candidate receptors, (3) developing screening strategies based on fluorescence microscopy, (4) screening cDNA expression libraries for candidate receptors, and (5) optimizing strategies for hepatitis E virus replication in cultured cells.

Other expectations: 

• The selected candidate must be able to commit for the entire 3-year duration of the project. He/She will also be expected to participate in various scientific activities such as group meetings, journal club, etc., assist the Principal Investigator in preparation of reports and occasionally mentor junior scientists and research trainees.

Salary: 

• This is a project position and will therefore have fixed remuneration that is commensurate with training and experience of the selected candidate. The position can go up to Scientist B as per Govt of India rules.
