UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION Recruits in Advertisement No. 21, INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSTS (PUBLICATION DATE : 13.11.2010)

Two Scientists- SB (Physical, Rubber, Plastic & Textile (PRPT) in National Test House, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Out of two posts, one post is reserved for OBC candidates.

Qualifications : Essential : 

A. Educational : 

• Master’s Degree in Physics(Pure / Applied) or Chemistry (Pure / Applied / Industrial) or degree in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology or degree in Textile / Rubber / Plastic / Paper / Leather / Polymer Technology of a recognized University or equivalent.

B. Experience : 

• Three years’ practical experience in testing and evaluation of materials such as textiles, polymer, paper, leather etc. in a recognized laboratory. Desirable : Training in modern instrumental methods of testing textiles, polymer, paper, leather etc.

PAY SCALE & CLASSIFICATION : 

• Figures in bracket at the end of the pay scale indicate the approx total emoluments(per month) excluding TA and HRA at the minimum of the scale
• Rs.8000-275-13500(T.E. Rs.17640) (pre-revised) Group ‘A’ Gazetted for the post.

NATURE OF POST : 

• Posts are permanent

AGE LIMIT AS ON NORMAL CLOSING DATE :

• Not exceeding 35 years for the posts
• N.B. : The age limit shown against all Sl.Nos is normal age limit. The age is relaxable for SC candidates upto 5 years & upto 3 years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. AGE IS ALSO RELAXABLE FOR CENTRAL/UT GOVT SERVANTS UPTO FIVE YEARS AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS ISSUED BY GOVT OF INDIA FROM TIME TO TIME. Duties : 

• Scientist SB (PRPT) is overall in charge of the laboratory and assists in purchasing of instruments etc for laboratory. Responsible for scrutiny of the samples in the light of prescribed guidelines and authorized to seek any clarification from the claimant relating to test before marking the same to Scientific Officer / Assistant for testing. Responsible for checking the draft Report submitted by Scientific Officer / Assistant and also sign on the final test Report on behalf of D.G. Assist the Scientist SC in other technical matters.

• National Test House, Kolkata / Mumbai / Chennai / Jaipur / Ghaziabad and Guwhati.
